How this attempted arrest went wrong for a deputy

The Staten Island bar manager that declared itself an “autonomous zone” in defiance of pandemic restrictions struck a New York City sheriff’s deputy with his vehicle while attempting to evade arrest.

Two deputies conducted surveillance on Mac’s Pub House on Saturday night and determined the bar violated pandemic restrictions. When trying to take Daniel Presti, the bar’s manager, into custody, he drove his vehicle into a uniformed deputy.

Louis Gelormino, an attorney representing Presti, disputed much of the sheriff’s department’s statement.

YOUR MORNING MARKET UPDATE

The stock market was set for more declines this morning, as investors continued to anticipate additional stimulus against a backdrop of more virus cases. Dow futures sunk .28%, S&P 500 futures dropped .33%, and Nasdaq 100 futures dwindled .25%.

“News out of DC that fiscal stimulus talks have resumed is also a positive development (though until a deal actually passes the President’s desk, this might be all hat, no cattle). These headlines come at a critical time as we remain in a challenging time from both a health and economic perspective,” said a Baird investment strategist.

Yesterday a group of lawmakers across party lines said that they want to extend government funding so that a deal can be negotiated on the stimulus package front.

If you’re looking to lose stubborn belly fat, there are a few healthy eating tips you can use that may help.

One of the best ways to help shed the pounds around your waist is to drink lots of water. Staying properly hydrated not only fuels your body correctly, but also acts as a natural appetite suppressant. Drinking water before a meal can make you eat less, but also feel more full.

Another trick is to eat only when you are hungry. You’d be surprised how many times you eat just because you think you have to, you’re bored, or emotional. If it’s lunchtime and you’re hungry, don’t eat. Only eating when your body is actually hungry can help you lose weight quickly. What other healthy eating tips can help you flatten your stomach by burning fat?

It can be challenging to switch from a traditional learning environment to studying from home. Some people thrive on in-person learning and having to sit at a computer all day can distract them from their work.

Thankfully, online resources can help students and their families adjust to the new normal that the pandemic has forced on us. There’s something on the list for every age group! So take a moment to check out some of the best online resources for virtual learning. You’ll be back on track in no time!

SpaceX Corp. tested its Falcon 9 and a fully functioning Dragon capsule combination during a brief mission launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on Dec. 8, 2010.

The unmanned capsule parachuted back to Earth about three hours after liftoff following maneuvers in orbit, a first for the privately-owned company.

“This has really been better than I expected,” said Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of SpaceX. “It’s actually almost too good.”

Here’s how everything panned out just one decade ago…
