A Florida man was so upset about not getting the cream cheese he desired that he threatened a Starbucks employee with a gun, authorities say.

It just so happened that the employee was the daughter of the local police chief.

“Forget about the badge, forget about the title, that’s my child,” said Delma Noel-Pratt, who heads the Miami Gardens department. “And I thought about, am I going to see her again? Is she OK? Of course, she was upset, she was crying, and so I had to go into mom mode.”

Omar Wright is charged with aggravated assault and armed robbery. Police say he created “a well-founded fear in the victim leading her to believe that if she didn’t give him the cream cheese, whether he pays for it or not, her life was being put at risk.”

What does Wright have to say about the incident?

MARKET UPDATE

Why did the Dow perform so badly last week?

The Dow posted its worst week since October 2020 and so far, this week is off to a less than exciting start with stock futures mostly flat.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 saw slight dips, while the Nasdaq 100 futures edged the tiniest bit higher as of yesterday.

The sector’s that are tied to economic recovery understandably took a dip as the Fed raised its inflation expectations midweek.

Additionally, the Treasury yield curve was also flattened last week as less signs of optimism of economic growth continue to emerge.

Investors are awaiting public appearances from Fed members at 9:00 a.m. ET today.

At least four people were injured, including three children, when gunshots rang out during a birthday party in Toronto on Saturday.

The shooting took place just before 8:00 pm, and investigators are pleading with the public to come forward with any tips or details that may give them a lead in the case. At this time, the shooting appears to be random, as local authorities say none of the victims appeared to be targeted.

A vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene shortly after the shooting. Authorities are interviewing neighbors, who are all cooperating. Toronto’s Mayor John Tory condemned the shooting as a “shocking and outrageous act of gun violence” and added that firing a gun in Toronto is “unacceptable” for any reason and “doing so at a child’s birthday party goes way beyond that.”

What else do we know about this case and how are the victims doing?
