BREAKING NEWS BRIEF

This pharmacist allegedly had a false belief of the vaccine

A Wisconsin hospital employee, Steven Brandenburg, is accused of intentionally removing 57 vials of the Moderna vaccine from a pharmacy refrigerator and leaving them out overnight. Brandenburg was fired after the incident and later arrested.

Aurora Medical Center initially said it had been forced to throw out more than 500 doses of the vaccine because of the incident, estimating the cost to be between $8,000 and $11,000. Reports are showing that the vials had been retained for testing by Moderna.

Brandenburg told investigators that he believed the vaccine could harm people and alter DNA. Experts have said there is no evidence that the vaccine can change DNA.

YOUR MORNING MARKET UPDATE

The stock market’s first day of trading in the New Year was tumultuous, to say the least. After plummeting as much as 700 points, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed the day at a 382-point loss. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 fell 1.4% and 1.5 % respectively.

“Investors are feeling antsy this week,” said Ally Invest’s chief investment strategist. “[The virus] cases continue to spike, with a new variant of the virus spreading across the globe…runoff races in Georgia could decide the makeup of the Senate, and the market generally has performed better in a split Congress.”

Even so, futures indicated slight gains this morning. What else should you know about the market today?

Use this matrix to boost your productivity

Time management is just as much of an art as it is a science. While many of us have a basic understanding of the process, there’s always room for improvement.

That’s where the Eisenhower Matrix can help. Named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower himself, the matrix is a simple and efficient way to help you prioritize your tasks.

Eisenhower famously said, “most things which are urgent are not important, and most things which are important are not urgent.” And that’s essentially the basis of his matrix today.

By creating a 4-quadrant box that focuses on the distinction between urgent and important, you’ll be able to sort through your to-do list and prioritize everything in a way that will noticeably improve your productivity. Here’s how to get started!

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!

If you’re one of the many people adopting a healthier lifestyle for the new year, it’s important to know the healthiest fast food meals that will help keep you on track on busy days when you just have to hit the drive-thru.

Chick-Fil-A fans can feel good about eating grilled nuggets and a cup of fruit when those fast food cravings just won’t go away. The grilled nuggets and fruit are only 260 calories combined. The chicken is also high in protein and coupled with the fruit, it makes a healthy and filling meal.

If Taco Bell is more your style, the chicken soft taco is one of the best things on the menu. With only 160 calories and five grams of fat, you can grab two without feeling guilty. What other fast food options are healthy choices?

LEARNING FROM THE PAST

On this day, Henry Ford doubled most workers' pay

Today, when most people think about “Big Business” the last thing they think about is seeing wages double overnight.

But that’s exactly what happened on this day back in 1914. Henry Ford, who took the world by storm with his assembly line production, was also a man who believed in a fair living wage. And if that seems strange now, imagine how it took the watching world by surprise when they learned what he was up to.

To call it “unprecedented” would be an understatement.

Before he made this shift, workers were paid $2.40 for a nine-hour day. After, workers were paid $5.00 for an eight-hour day.

Here’s what led to his decision…
