BREAKING NEWS BRIEF
Kentucky woman alleges that a hospital altered her records to cover their mistake
Kim Johnson was relieved to open the test results that declared “no evidence of cancer.” After losing her own mother to breast cancer, she was well aware of how the disease could wreak havoc on one’s family. Johnson and her husband took their whole family out to celebrate the news.
Medical experts who reviewed Johnson’s record later told her that there had been a terrible mistake. Warning signs were present in her initial scans that should have tipped doctors off that there was something off. Johnson’s lawyer alleges that someone at the hospital sent her the wrong letter giving her the all-clear instead of directing her to return for a follow-up exam.
By the time Johnson discovered the discrepancy ten months later — thanks only to her own insistence on seeking a second opinion after the pain in her breast had worsened — her new doctors had feared it might be too late to save her.
This was the start of a years-long battle not only with a deadly disease but with a health system and medical workers who, Johnson’s lawyers say, went to extraordinary lengths to cover up their error.
It took three years of litigation before Johnson, her lawyers, and a digital forensics expert who reviewed her electronic patient records were able to piece together what they believe happened: In the days and weeks after Johnson filed a medical malpractice lawsuit in 2016, two hospital employees opened her electronic records and edited them, deleting evidence of the erroneous letter claiming that she was cancer-free, Johnson’s lawyers say.

MORNING MARKET UPDATE
This is your morning market update
All three major benchmarks were set for opening losses this morning after yesterday’s increasing bond yields kept investors on edge.
Yesterday all three major indexes drifted downward, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average decreasing 0.38% lower, the S&P 500 falling 1.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite sinking 2.7%.
“Our current strategy work suggests robust economic growth this year with a modest increase in inflation,” said Scott Wren of Wells Fargo Investment Institute. “In attempting to read the tea leaves, the steepening of the yield curve, in our opinion, reflects the market’s belief that growth and inflation should continue to move back toward appropriate levels as the pandemic eases. We view this as a positive for stocks and other risk assets, like commodities.”

PRODUCTIVITY HACKS
Use these simple hacks to help you beat procrastination
Let’s face it: we’re all guilty of procrastination. Granted, some of us are worse than others, but we all give in to the desire to put things off until the last minute.
If you’re struggling to become more efficient and meet your deadlines ahead of time, there are some simple tricks you can adopt to shove procrastination out of the way.
One way to get the creative juices flowing is to get up and move for a few minutes. The longer we stay situated in one spot, the less likely we are to get anything done. Once you’re up, your brain is forced to refocus on what needs to get done.
Simply setting up constant reminders of what you should be working on can snap you out of the procrastination daze. Set alarms on your phone or schedule your digital calendar to send you emails every hour.
Finally, wake up earlier! The earlier someone gets up in the morning to start their day, the more likely they are to get things done well ahead of their deadlines.

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
This is what the future of Dogecoin is shaping up to look like in 2021
Digital currency is hotter than ever, and thanks to Elon Musk, Dogecoin has been riding that wave right along with the “Big Dogs.”
However, digital and blockchain currencies are facing greater and greater scrutiny – especially as more and more investors start pouring in with hopes of cashing out much richer than they started.
According to Yahoo Finance, “Dogecoin has experienced high price volatility like any other cryptocurrency. To be precise, it has leaped about 774 percent year to date against the US dollar. In July 2020, the cryptocurrency jumped from 0.002286, almost doubling to $0.004543 within a few days. Additionally, Dogecoin’s bullish movement started the year on a high note, doubling from $0.005405 to $0.011427 on January 2.”
