An Alabama funeral service ended in a shooting that left one man dead and three more people injured, authorities say. The incident occurred just before James Gipson’s casket was set down in the graveyard. Gipson had recently lost his life to cancer, and was surrounded by loved ones when the violence erupted.
They were paying tribute to Gipson when a car blasting music entered the cemetery.
“They were asked to turn the music down,” said one family member. “Basically, it instigated from there. A lot of cussing and profanity that went on.”
Shots were then fired, killing Jerry Lee Gipson and injuring others.
Authorities are looking for a 40-year-old man who was apparently involved in the shooting.
