Three people are dead and five more sustained injuries after a series of apparently unrelated shootings in Washington’s biggest city, authorities say. The violence occurred early Sunday morning, according to a release.

“As people were coming back to enjoy Seattle’s nightlife, Seattle saw one [of] its worst mornings of violence,” the mayor said.

The trouble started at 1:40 on Sunday morning, with a woman showing up at a hospital reporting a stomach gunshot wound. About 20 minutes later, police responded to a bar fight that bled into a parking lot. Gunfire erupted after their arrival, and a man died at the scene.

Then, at about 2:30 a.m., officers were called to Occidental Square, where they discovered two men with gunshot wounds. One was already dead. The other was transported to a hospital. Apparently three other people had been taken to the hospital in connection with that incident.

The last shooting occurred just before 5 a.m. What do we know about this night of violence?
