Bad news for GM: Chevrolet is forced to expand the Bolt EV recall

General Motors (GM) was faced with more bad news over the weekend, as the company was forced to expand a recall of the Chevrolet Bolt electric vehicle (EV).

Under the expanded recall, GM added over 70,000 additional Bolts from model years 2019-2022. This is in addition to the thousands of 2017-2019 models that have already been recalled.

The recall is due to a fire hazard relating to the Bolt’s battery. There have been reports of exploding batteries and cars unexpectedly catching fire. Because of the concern, GM has asked owners of recalled vehicles to keep them out of garages and to park away from houses until the cars can be fixed.

What else do we know about the recall and has GM pinpointed the battery issue yet?
