Why did Jen Psaki and reporters have a heated exchange during a press conference?

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had a bit of a heated exchange with reporters during a press conference this week.

The exchange was over the White House’s response to Americans who are still in Afghanistan, waiting to be evacuated after the country fell into chaos at the hands of the Taliban. But as reporters pressed Psaki on the pushback the Biden Administration has received for their handling of the Afghanistan crisis, Psaki responded with her own pushback.

When a reporter suggested the negative publicity for the White House was due to Americans being stranded in Afghanistan, Psaki said there weren’t any Americans stranded in the country.

“I think it’s irresponsible to say Americans are stranded. They are not. We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home,” she firmly explained.

But Fox News reporter Peter Doocy pressed Psaki once again and asked if the official stance of the White House was that no Americans were stranded in Afghanistan, despite reports to the contrary.

What was Psaki’s response and what else was said during the heated exchange?
