Unlike his predecessors, Biden’s relationship with Russian President Putin is pointedly rocky. We were all there for the incident where Biden plainly characterized Putin as “a killer,” and just recently he recounted a time that he told Putin, to his face, that Putin has no soul. (Putin claims to have no memory of this conversation.)
And now, for the first time as President of the United States, Biden will meet with Putin face-to-face to hash out the future of the diplomatic relations between Russia and the U.S.
So how has the stage been set, and what scene will play out?
