President Joe Biden offered a message of hope on Friday to the thousands of Americans still stranded in Afghanistan during the chaotic takeover by the Taliban.
“Let me be clear: any American who wants to come home, we will get you home,” Biden said during a speech from the White House.
Biden’s remarks brought an optimistic outlook to an otherwise chaotic and uncertain situation. The President went on to detail plans for US troops to assist with evacuating Americans, as rescue flights resumed after a short pause due to violence and chaos at the Kabul airport.
“As commander in chief, I can promise you I will mobilize every resource necessary, and as an American, I offer my gratitude to the brave men and women of the US armed forces who are carrying out this mission. They’re incredible,” the President stated.
