Is Trump really going to release his tax returns? His lawyer says otherwise

A recent court ruling rocked the political arena when the Department of Justice ordered Donald Trump to hand over his tax returns. The order requests Trump to send his returns to the House Ways and Means Committee.

Trump is no stranger to people wanting his tax returns to be released publicly, as the former President was continuously asked for his tax information throughout his election campaign and his four years in the White House.

But this is the first time Trump has been legally ordered to hand over his tax information. While the House Committee would review the tax documents in a closed session, some, if not all, of the information would likely be made available to all members of the House. The Treasury Department has also said it plans to make Trump’s returns public once the information is handed over.

And while it appears that Trump is obligated to furnish the requested documents, his lawyer is saying not so fast.
