Biden deploys another 1,000 paratroopers to aid Kabul

Despite estimates that it would take another thirty days or more for the Taliban to reach and conquer Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul fell last night.

At the Kabul airport, the scene was gruesome as Afghan citizens fought to board flights out of the country as the city fell around them. At least seven people have been killed during the chaos at the airport, including several Afghans who plunged to their deaths after clinging on to a U.S. military jet that took off from the runway.

The additional troops are to secure the airport and evacuate Afghan citizens. The Pentagon expects the total troops will number 6,000.
