Three metro Atlanta spas all experience shootings on the same day
Authorities in metro Atlanta are investigating whether shootings at three massage parlors that left multiple people dead are connected. Two of the shootings were at spas across the street from each other in northeast Atlanta. The other was in Cherokee County to the northwest of the city. Officials in each jurisdiction said there were no immediate indications of motive, and it is unclear whether the shootings were related.
Deputies were called to Young’s Asian Massage near Acworth, Georgia, for reports of a shooting. Responding deputies found five people with gunshot wounds. Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, and three were transported to a hospital, where two more died.
Atlanta police responded to a robbery call at the Golden Massage Spa and found three people dead. While there, police received another call of shots fired directly across the street at the Aroma Therapy Spa, where they found one person dead.
A suspect in the Cherokee County shootings was taken into custody around 8:30 p.m.- about 3 1/2 hours after the killings. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office identified him as Robert Aaron Long, 21, of Woodstock.

MORNING MARKET UPDATE
This is your market update for the day
As investors anticipate updated economic and interest rate forecasts from the Fed today, stocks held steady. Futures tied to each of the major benchmarks remained, for the most part, unchanged, with the exception of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which was poised for a 25-point opening gain.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell will also offer remarks today.
“There’s this assumption [Powell’s going to be dovish tomorrow,” said Peter Boockvar, of Bleakley Advisory Group. “With another round of spending, it’s hard for him not to be dovish. They are definitely afraid of scaring the market. They’re afraid of disrupting the recovery.”
As of yesterday, the 10-year Treasury yield held its position over 1.6%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell almost 130 points, and the S&P 500 decreased by 0.16. The Nasdaq Composite, meanwhile, increased 0.09%.
