Why dozens of beloved muffins are being recalled nationwide

If you’re on the way to the grocery store, think twice before purchasing your favorite pre-packaged muffins, as dozens are being recalled due to potential listeria contamination, officials say.

Listeria can cause fever, bad headaches, and stomach upset, and it can sometimes be fatal, killing about 260 people annually in the U.S., and sickening some 1,600 more, officials say.

“Infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women,” according to the Food and Drug Administration.

The muffins in question were on sale at 7-Eleven, Stop & Shop, Walmart, and Sam’s Clubs. If you’ve recently purchased any of the items on this list, be sure to toss the sweet treat in the trash to be on the safe side.
