Why did Dominion and Maricopa County reject the Arizona Senate audit request?

Last week, the Justice Department issued a second warning to states that any audits of the 2020 election would be in violation of federal law. Despite a strong push from the Arizona Senate, which is controlled by the GOP, Maricopa County is refusing to comply with the audit request.

The audit was being conducted by the Florida-based company CyberNinjas, whose chief supports Trump’s claims of voter fraud. At the same time, hardly anyone can find any evidence that the election was stolen — and meanwhile, the events of Jan. 6 have destroyed the credibility of Trump’s claim for many citizens.

Trump’s status as kingmaker, a possible 2024 run, and even Florida Gov. DeSantis’s political potential all hang in the balance when it comes to the findings of the election audits (or lack thereof). So what’s really going on?
