There was a leak of 533 million Facebook users’ personal data…. this is why that is much worse than you think

The company that knows more about you than perhaps any other on this planet has a hard time protecting your personal information. And once that personal data is hacked, like it just was, with 533 million users’ information leaked online, there is no real way to recover it.

A hacker just recently published data including Facebook IDs and names, phone numbers and birth dates on a forum, and it’s available there for free.

The same company that collects your data to sell to advertisers does not seem particularly interested in keeping that information, which could be dangerous in the wrong hands, safe.

What else should you know about this growing problem?

Your morning market update

Stock futures were higher early Monday as investors reacted to a strong bounce in U.S. job growth last month amid accelerating vaccine rollout.

Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average implied an opening gain of about 200 points. S&P 500 futures and Nasdaq 100 futures also traded in positive territory.

On the pandemic front, the U.S. reported another daily record of new Covid vaccinations Saturday, pushing the weekly average of new shots per day above 3 million.

WEATHER UPDATE

This year’s tornado season could be one for the history books

Meteorologists are concerned that this year’s tornado season could be a particularly strong and active one. Some experts are even comparing it to the deadly tornado season in 2011.

An unusually strong La Nina weather pattern and active jet stream, the exact same setup that happened in 2011, is forecasted to supercharge this year’s tornado season. La Nina has already shown signs of being the strongest it has been since 2010, which is not a good sign in regards to severe weather over the next few months.

In addition to an active jet stream and extremely powerful La Nina weather pattern, most of the US is also expected to have above average temperatures this spring, which only adds to the recipe for disaster.

Just how bad was the 2011 tornado season and how do experts feel this season will compare?
