More than ninety people found in a possible human smuggling case

More than 90 people were found “huddled together” in a home in Houston in a possible case of human smuggling. No one was seriously injured, but Houston Police Assistant Chief Daryn Edwards said, “We are concerned that there may be some positive COVID cases inside the house.”

The health department was later on the scene performing rapid tests. No children were inside. Approximately five women are in the house, and the rest are men. They told police they hadn’t eaten in a while. Food and water were provided to the group.

Authorities were made aware of the situation on Thursday evening. They worked through the night to determine the kidnapping victim’s location. Upon executing a search warrant at a Houston house, it was determined that this was a “human smuggling investigation.”
