By now, you have likely at least heard about the burgeoning research linking food to mental health. But did you know that certain foods can actually help ease symptoms of depression?
Recent studies show that the Mediterranean diet may be the best bet for people struggling with this mental health condition, which has increased significantly in the US since the onset of the pandemic.
According to holistic psychologist Nicole Lippman-Barile, says that’s because this way of eating will “reduce levels of inflammation.”
She continues: “Research is continually demonstrating that inflammation plays a major role in the pathogenesis of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia.”
