How Jeffrey Dahmer almost got away, exactly 30 years ago

July 22, 1991: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, police officers spot Tracy Edwards running down the street in handcuffs, and upon investigation, they find one of the grisliest scenes in modern history… Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment.

When police went back to Dahmer’s apartment, he calmly explained that the entire thing was just a misunderstanding, and police almost believed him… until they saw these Polaroids.

Dahmer would then confess to 17 murders, dating back to 1978, although the true number of his victims may never be known.
