Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park welcomed a new addition to the family this month when a baby Masai giraffe was born.
The male calf was born on June 10, but Disney Park officials just announced the birth this week and shared some of the first photos of the young giraffe. Disney’s Director of Animal & Science Operations Scott Terrell described the baby giraffe as “playful, curious, and pretty chill.”
The giraffe calf is six feet tall and a whopping 183 pounds. He has a unique butterfly-shaped marking on his right shoulder, and care takers have found several heart-shaped markings in the pattern on his coat.
