When a police officer attempted to talk to the driver of a Jeep this weekend, he was run over and dragged by the car instead, authorities say. Arkansas cop Kevin Apple died as a result of the incident, according to police.

Instead of stopping, Shawna Rhae Cash and Elijah Anadoloza struck a law enforcement vehicle before hitting Apple. Another officer fired at the pair, and the two were chased before they were ultimately arrested.

“Our hearts are filled with sorrow and despair from the loss of our brother,” officials said. “Kevin was so important to us and will forever be missed. We feel the love and prayers from everyone.”

The governor requested that flags be flown at half-staff as a way to honor Apple.

Walmart sued Kanye West and now Kanye is suing the retail giant over this

Earlier this year, Walmart sued Kanye West over a copyright infringement over his new Yeezy logo claiming that the logo “likely to cause confusion and lead to consumer deception.”

Now, Kanye is suing the retail giant for selling an exact replica of his design.

The lawsuit holds Walmart responsible for selling an “unauthorized exact copy” at a significantly lower price to dupe customers and profit off authentic YEEZY products.

Kanye claims that his company is losing millions of dollars because of Walmart’s sale of the “fake YEEZY Foam Runners.”

The United States military conducted numerous airstrikes on multiple facilities near the Iraq and Syrian border on Sunday at the order of President Joe Biden.

At least one of the facilities that was destroyed as a result of the airstrikes was used by Iranian forces to launch and recover drones. Reports indicate that the facility and its drones were used to carry out attacks on US military personnel in recent months.

The other facilities targeted in the airstrikes were used by various Iran-backed militia and terrorist groups. President Biden made it clear that he will not tolerate attacks on US forces from such groups.

“As demonstrated by this evening’s strikes, President Biden has been clear that he will act to protect US personnel. Given the ongoing series of attacks by Iran-backed groups targeting US interests in Iraq, the President directed further military action to disrupt and deter such attacks,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby stated.

What else do we know about the airstrikes and the political fallout they could cause?

This is the most historic drought in the Western United States in 20 years

Firefighters battle a brushfire in Santa Barbara, California, on May 21.

The most severe drought is centered around California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. However, areas of extreme and exceptional drought extend into the Pacific Northwest as well. While dealing with the drought, many areas are also coping with intense heat. The heat and the drought are part of a damaging feedback loop enhanced by climate change. Experts say the hotter it gets, the drier it gets. And the drier it gets, the hotter it gets.

The conditions are also fueling wildfires and exacerbating water demands. Here’s a look into the lives of those living in these extreme climates.
