A bike rally is underway through the weekend in Florida. More than 300,000 people are expected to be drawn to the event despite the ongoing pandemic. Bike Week in Daytona Beach will include concerts, races, and bike shows. The event started on Friday and will continue through this coming Sunday.

Daytona Beach officials said they were altering the event to help prevent the spread of the virus. That includes limiting some merchants to 60% indoor capacity. The city also asks residents and visitors to wear masks indoors and when physical distancing isn’t possible. Florida does not have a statewide mask mandate.

The Daytona Police Department has implemented safety precautions as well. The department is using drones instead of people for surveillance in certain places and limiting the number of officers responding to a situation.

This year marks the Daytona Beach event’s 80th anniversary.

MORNING MARKET UPDATE

This is your market update for the morning

Investors this morning continue to obsess over bond yields and news on the stimulus package front, and stock futures were mixed as a result.

Futures on the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.2% and 0.6%, respectively, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 55 points. Meanwhile, the 10-year Treasury yield increased incrementally this morning.

Investors are also anxiously awaiting information about inflation, which will be shared around 8:30 a.m.

“Corrections … create natural inflection points for traders,” said E-Trade Financial’s Chris Larkin. “Let’s not forget that less than a year ago traders interpreted one of the biggest negative macro events in market history as a buying opportunity, so there’s little reason to think otherwise given all the positive signals around us today.”

What else should you be aware of this morning?

If you’ve ever been on keto or you are currently on that eating plan, weight loss stalls are a common complaint from long-term keto dieters. But there are a few ways you can break a keto plateau so you can jumpstart your weight loss again.

It should be noted that a plateau can be caused by the natural response of your body because your metabolism tends to slow down as you lose weight. So if you’ve really dropped a lot of weight recently, a plateau could simply be part of your body’s natural response. But a plateau while on keto can also be tied to your macros.

One of the first things you should check when your weight loss stalls on keto is your macronutrient ratio. It’s easy to not track your macros like you should and being off by even just a little can cause a major stall. Correcting your macros could be a quick and easy way to break your weight loss stall. How else can you break a keto plateau?

LIFE HACKS

This is how you can use your Samsung phone as a desktop PC

Did you know that if you own a Samsung Galaxy phone or tablet, you can use it as a desktop PC? Thanks to the DeX (Desktop Experience) system, you can plug your phone into a monitor and use it like an ordinary computer.

The protocol allows users to attach a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to their phone, essentially making the Samsung line of phones and tablets super-portable desktop computers.

While you have the option of using special DeX connectors, you can now set up most of the system by using Bluetooth. Though, a USB-C to HDMI cable would make using a monitor a lot easier. But if you have a smart TV, you can simply mirror your phone’s display!

The little-known feature has been utilized since 2017, with major changes coming to the software last year. So if you have a Galaxy device, be sure to try out DeX!

PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE

Men have 3 times as much retirement savings as women do – what you can do to make sure you’re secure

Men have 3 times as much retirement savings as women do - what you can do to make sure you're secure

Monday was International Women’s Day – and in the US, this month is Women’s History Month. Which makes it a great time to take a time out and talk about the achievements of women while also talking about gender equality.

And you can’t talk about gender equality without acknowledging that women (for whatever reason) are financially further behind than their male counterparts. And those numbers get even worse when dealing with trans women or non-binary individuals.

Even after all of this time, women still only make $0.82 for every $1.00 a man earns. But if you just stop there, you’ll miss some other obstacles and complexities that are tied to race, education and other socioeconomic factors.

Here’s how that all breaks down and seven ways that women AND men can work to make sure that we level the playing field and protect everyone’s futures.
